Cubs Canvas began with something very simple: watching a child paint.
Like many young children, Cavani was naturally drawn to colour, movement, and the freedom of putting paint onto paper without rules or expectations. There was no concern about whether the painting looked “right”. There was only curiosity, exploration, and joy.
Seeing this reminded me of something important about childhood creativity: children do not create in order to be perfect. They create in order to express themselves.
Cubs Canvas was built to protect and encourage that kind of freedom.
While I am the founder behind the project, Cubs Canvas was created with Cavani in mind. It is inspired by the way he approaches painting — with curiosity, imagination, and complete freedom.
In many ways, this space belongs to him. My role is simply to build and nurture it until he is old enough to understand it, shape it, and one day speak about it in his own words.
Cubs Canvas is not about teaching children to become artists. It is about giving them space to explore creativity without pressure, using simple tools and open imagination.
Through this platform, we hope to gently remind parents of the value of creative freedom in childhood and encourage more moments where children can paint, explore, and express themselves in their own way.
After all, sometimes the most meaningful thing a child can do is simply pick up a brush and paint.
